Hello, I am Ísland, the nation of fire and ice. It's possible you already knew this. Because I have been out of touch of other nations for so long, I thought that I had better start doing letters again.

Hello Kha,
Yeah. I've been fine. A little bit, yes. How have you been? You got older didn't you? Darn. I missed it.

Néih hóu Emil,
is it okay to call you Emil? You should be, like, glad that you missed my birthday. Mum sent me a cake that he baked and I ended up in hospital for some days because I ate it all. It's probably better that you didn't add poisoning to your cold. The worst about it was that I missed the fireworks.

Hello Kha,
Feel free.
Oh that is bad! Food poisoning does not make for the best medicine does it? That was silly on your part. Don't you know he is not very good in the kitchen? You do love your fireworks don't you. Next year maybe you will be luckier. Or you could light fireworks in your free time.

Néih hóu Emil,
thanks.
It was not, like, silly! I couldn't have, like, thrown the cake away after all. Wasting food is a very bad thing to do. And Mum's cooking has not always been hat bad, you know*. Of course I love my fireworks. You should see, like, how pretty the colourful lights glow over the bay. It's only, like, some more days until New Year's (although we celebrate Chinese New Year more admittedly, but still... one more occasion for fireworks). Do you have fireworks too?
Bái bai, Leon
-- * during the war Hong Kong was occupied by Japan who cut him off from all supplies. HK almost starved at that time and when England came to his rescue and gave him food he was so hungry that he thought it was indeed delicious. ^^;

Hello Kha- Mei?
You may be right and I was rude to say so. I am not too sure about that; whatever you say. Yes, they are pretty and exciting..How silly would I be not to celebrate with fireworks? For New Year and Twelfth Night, relaxing or marching by torch light while the fireworks go off above...yes, I can appreciate fireworks, and am fond of them...is it true that America bakes Christmas cakes for you and the others, or is that a myth?
By the by, something awkward has come up. It does not happen all too rarely, but we seem to have switched genders...my boss asks that you address me as Eydís Steilssondóttir, as my actual name is masculine. How has this sudden change been treating you?

Dear Iceland,
Moien! It has been such a long time since we have last spoken to each other! How have you been? I hope that you have been taking my advice on organizing bank documents better. I heard that your economy has been doing much better lately, and for that I am proud of you. Well, I hope that you write back soon. It's a pressure writing this to you.
Yours Truly,
Ben Calteux
