^^;; title is a work in progress.....
Anyway, welcome to my newest story!!! ^-^ this one is based off the movie Tangled, which is about the princess Rapunzel~.
Disclaimer: I do not own Tangled. Disney does. Nor do I own America, who is our loving king for this story~
-----------
Once upon a time, in a far, far away land, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens and from this small drop of sun grew a magic, golden flower, with the ability to heal the sick and injured.
Centuries passed, and a kingdom grew, only a hop skip and a jump away from this flower. This kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and queen. And the Queen, well, she was about to have a baby. But then she got sick. Really sick. She was running out of time. And, at that point, people start looking for miracles. Or, in this case, a magic golden flower.
However, there was a problem. You see, an evil man had found the flower many years before. And, instead of sharing this gift, this man, Ezekiel, he horded this power and used it to keep himself young for hundreds of years. And all he had to do was sing a special song.
Ezekiel hissed in pain as he kneeled down in front of the hidden flower, lamp to the side. He looked around, before carefully taking off its woven cover. A small smile appeared on his face. “Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse. Bring back what once was mine; what once was mine.” he sang in a croaked, dry voice.
Almost instantly, his appearance changed. His white hair turned to a golden blond; old, weak eyes turned into beautiful ash-colored ones; Old wrinkled skinned turned young and healthy.
Ezekiel smiled to himself, before a shout pulled him out of his own little world. He quickly placed the cover back on the flower, grabbed his lantern, and hurried off, not realizing that in his haste, he knocked the cover off. Only when he heard a guard shout “We found it.” he realized his flower was gone.
The magic of the flower healed the queen. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl, a princess, with beautiful golden hair. To celebrate her birth, the King and Queen launched a glowing, flying lantern into the sky. And, for that moment, everything was perfect.
Then that moment ended.
Ezekiel smiled as he stood over the sleeping babe’s cradle. He gently took a lock of hair between his fingers. “Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine.” He slipped out a pair of scissors, smiled growing as the hair glowed as the flower once did. “Make the clock.” he snipped a piece of gold hair, gasping as the glowing stopped, the cut hair fading to a red color.
The queen awoke with a start, causing her husband to wake up. He watching in confusion as she jumped out of bed, rushed to the cradle, only to race out to the balcony, shouting orders at the guards.
“Angel. Angel, amore, what-” he began, before he saw why. Running through the streets was a cloaked figure. And, in its arms, was the princess.
The kingdom searched and searched for the lost princess, but could not find her. For, deep within the forest, Ezekiel raised the child as his own.
Ezekiel sat in a large velvet arm chair, gently brushing a young girl’s hair. “Save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine. What once was mine.” the girl sang. He closed his eyes, smiling to himself as he was turned young again. “Daddy?”
“Yes flower?” he asked, calmly continuing his brushing, as though nothing had happened to him.
“Why can’t I go outside?”
“The outside world is a dangerous place, filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you’re safe. Do you understand flower?” he asked. After a moment with no response, he tried again. “Flower?” no response. “Elena. Do you understand?”
“Yes Daddy. I understand.”
Ezekiel had found his new flower, and this time, was determined to keep it.
But, the walls of the tower could not hide everything.
Each year, on her birthday, the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky, in the hope that, one day, their lost princess would return.
