Yay~!!! New Story!!!
This one is based off something my mom said. She said "The United States isn't a country like other countries. It's a collection of states that joined together to form a country." So, I though, "So, what if Alfred isn't a country, but a state? How would that affect his thoughts, and how would the countries react to it?" Thus, this was born. *bows* I hope you enjoy
Disclaimer: I don't own America or England.

Inside the meeting room, there was an argument of somewhat massive annoyance going on between two siblings.
“There’s no way that Alfred could handle this!” shouted a girl with blond hair as she glared across the room to her brother.
Alfred rolled his eyes. “Elisabeth, are you really going to argue about this?” he asked her, arms crossed over his chest.
“Yes! Because it’s unfair! I was founded first, I should represent us!” she argued.
“Lizzy, calm down.” a girl with bright red hair, New York, tried, putting a hand on her sister’s shoulder. “The decision was already made. You can’t change it.” She hugged her older sister close.
“But it’s not fair! I’m the more mature one!” she sobbed. Alfred had to resist his urge to hug his little sister. He knew she was hurt because of losing, but there was nothing he could do about it. It wasn’t like he voted for himself.
“Virginia, listen.” Delaware started to say as he stood up. “Between the two of you, Massachusetts is the better choice. He’s educated, an important state, and is a man. He’s also the one who has more experience with the other countries, and he’s already known as America.”
Elizabeth looked between the two men. “How horrible it is to live in a world governed by men.” she said, pushing her sister off her and storming out of the hall.
Alfred caught the girl as she stumbled back. “You ok York?” He asked, picking up her glasses and putting them back on her face.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She said, before rushing off also, shouting her sister’s name as she looked for the blond.
Delaware sighed. “She just cannot accept it.”
“Give her some time Edward.” New Jersey put a hand on the eldest state’s shoulder. “It’s been a rough year for all of us, with getting back on our feet after the war.”
“I suppose so.” He took a deep breath, before turning to Alfred. “So, Massachusetts,” Alfred frowned at the use of his full name. Why could Edward just call him Mass or Alfred or something like that? Why was it always Massachusetts? “As decided here but us thirteen states, you shall represent the United States of America in all legal matters.” Delaware rose from his seat. “This meeting is adjourned. Good bye and God bless.”
All the states left, and Alfred wandered to the bar for a drink. He needed one. Never had he thought he would be giving this responsibility.
It had already been a year. One year since that day at Yorktown. One year since they had won the war, and gained their independence.
One year of waiting for someone to represent them. But no one had come. So they took matters into their own hands.
And now he, Alfred, was supposed to represent them.
“Now, what’s the face for?” He looked to see New Jersey sitting next to him. “You almost look sad.”
“Not really. Just thinking.”
“Ah. Thinking about what just happened?”
“Yeah. It’s weird. I wasn’t expecting this when I was standing in the rain.” he sighed and took a drink of the alcohol placed in front of him by the bar tender.
“But you’re the best choice.” The other state said, putting an arm around his little brother. “And you’ve got all of us to back you up.” He took a swing of his drink. “Now, I spy some pretty ladies. Shall we go and see to them?”
Alfred laughed and looked over to the women Jersey was talking about. “Yeah, that sounds like a plan.”
