Vanya: I'm sorry that I forgot to greet you a happy christmas. I was too busy with the riots in my own city. Anyways, did you have a good holiday? Batu Batu, I also seem to have forgotten to reply to a letter of yours, but I feel like we could start a new chain with this one, if you don't mind. I'm sorry to hear about your riots. They are horrible things, aren't they? I had an excellent holiday. How about you? Dosvidannia, Russia

Privet, Papa Since I'm writing letters now too, I thought I should send my first one to you~! How are you, Papa? I haven't heard from you in a long time... I miss you, Papa. Maybe I could go visit you, or you could come visit me? Lyubovʹ, Anya Alaska Anya, maya tsarevna: I'm glad to hear that you're finally writing letters, my dear. It's good that you and I both are trying to reach outside of our isolation and make new friends, if that was your intent. I also haven't heard from you in years, and it is most distressing. How are things with you and Alfred? Is he treating you well? It is up to you, maya lyubvich. Let me know which is better for you. Dosvidannia, Russia

Yeah, I'm not even sure if we'd have an entirely new boss and Natalia's in her usual self. Now Katya's the one who's isolating herself. As for me, I had a good Xmas and Snegoruchka paid a visit to my humble home while I was busy trying to make the Kazan Kremlin impervious to explosions. Batu P.S.: I still couldn't find a solution for that polar bear that munched on your hair.

Papa,
Da, I am trying to make more friends. These letters work very well, I have already made a new friend. I have also joined a game and met some nations I had not seen before.
I miss when we all lived in one house, you and I were never lonely then. I have wanted to talk to you, but was not allowed for some time. Things are well between Alfred-dad and I, though I don't see him often. He says it is too cold here. I see his brother Kanada and his cute little bear more often, and they are very nice to me.
I have been thinking of writing Uncle Toris...do you think he would write back to me? I miss him, he was always so nice.
I am planning to visit Aunt Natalia soon. Since I will be near, I will come visit you after, da?

Batu, Katya usually isolated herself; it's just in her nature to withdraw from the world if something bad happens to her, and everything in the world is going sour. I can't help but feel that now that people have become obsessed with this 2012 thing, they no longer care about decency. Maybe that's just my own interpretation, though.
I'm glad to hear of your good holidays!

But yes, these letters are quite helpful when I realized just how many people are willing to write to me and how many actually have, and kept up with correspondence. What kind of game did you join? I also met some countries I have never met, and am glad to say we have gotten around excellently. If a country bothers you, just let me know. I'll take care of them. Why did Alfred stop you from talking to me? Was there a real reason? He better not be trying to keep me from seeing my baby girl, Anya. Whether we're friends or not, I'll still beat him up if he's taking you away from me. Why doesn't he come to visit you? You should begin becoming friends with Canada; he's much more pleasant. I'm glad you're doing well, though, and I'm glad we can finally talk again. It's been forever since I last saw you, and I miss you very much. Toris has written to me lately, and I think he'll write to my little girl if you begin the conversation. He's very polite, and I think you two could get along quite nicely. I am looking forward to your visit, my dear. Tell me closer to when you plan on arriving so I can make proper accommodations. I love you. Don't ever forget that. Dosvidannia, Russia

Papa,
I do not know if you have met her, her name is Marisha, she represents the Bahamas.
It is Truth or Dare. I do not know how to play, and so far there haven't been enough people awake to play properly so I have not been able to learn.
Da, I will. I know Papa will always take care of me~.
I don't know why he stopped me from talking to you. He didn't like to let me visit either, kept talking about "evil commies". ...Papa, what are "commies"? Nobody else will tell me when I ask.
I am friends with Kanada, he is my Uncle Matfyeĭ now. There is a ski trip planned with some of the states, he will be there as well. Silly Uncle Matfyeĭ, he thinks he is better at skiing than me. I will prove him wrong.
I will write to Uncle Toris soon, then.
I miss you as well, Papa. I will be making my visit as soon as I can. I will let you know before I leave to visit Aunt Natalia.
I could never forget that you love me. I love you too, Papa. Very much.
Lyubov', Anya

I could never forget that you love me. I love you too, Papa. Very much. Lyubov', Anya Anya, No, I have never met this Marisha character, but I hope that you and she get along excellently. I wan to see my little girl happy and full of spirit as always. Truth and dare, you say? I always considered that to be a quite easy game to play. But when people are not awake, I suppose it could be very difficult to play, because it involves so many people as a whole to play, does it not? I personally have never played it too much. I think he stopped us from talking because he was afraid that you would want to live with me more than with him. It's what parents do, my dear. No parent wants their child to get too close to the other, because they don't want to lose their little one. It's especially difficult when the parents don't speak too much. We try to manipulate our children so we get them and the other doesn't. You'll understand someday, little one. "Commie" is a shortened form of "Communist", which is just a different form of government than Alfred believes in. It's why the Cold War happened, Anya. Alfred thinks it was bad to follow, and that's why he was so mad at me before. But I don't want you to worry about that anymore. I'm no longer Communist, and Alfred and myself are no longer warring because of it. I just meant that you should become closer with him than with Alfred, because I personally prefer him and know he won't treat you any different just because you're my daughter, as Alfred may. I hope you do prove him wrong; you must be a better skier than he is! Thank you, Anya. Dosvidannia, Russia

Papa,
Da, it is an easy game once there are enough people awake.
I did wish to be with you more at first. After some time I was happy where I was, though I would like to see you more.
Oh. That is why. I am glad you are not anymore since it means you aren't fighting with Daddy Alfred and I can write and visit you now.
I don't think Daddy treats me differently because I am yours, at least, not anymore. I was called Russian America for a while, and was not liked much because of that. Now that I am simply Alaska and you and Daddy are not enemies, everything is much better. I think I am closer to Uncle Matfyeĭ, he visits more and he knows what it is like to live in the cold more than Daddy. I will do my best!

Dear brother,
I feel like it has been too long. I know you have been busy, but other than that you have been doing good, da? Hopefully Katyusha as well, I have not seen her recently. I suppose I will tell you that you no longer have to feel burdened by the thought of us getting married, since I have found someone else.

Lyubov', Anya Anya, Well, I'm glad you're getting into more sociable acts than just sitting around and doing nothing like I always do. This way, maybe you can make more friends! Of course you want to see me more. We're related, yes? It makes sense for a daughter to want to see her father every once in a while. Living alone with just one parent can be bad for a child, you know. Yes. What happened between us has happened, and there's no reason for you to worry about it anymore. Myself and Alfred are getting along pretty well nowadays now that the air is cleared and we can really consider our options before we make a big decision. I'm glad to hear that they're treating you alright, and that they're not behaving any differently because you're the only child of Alfred's to have two parents, at least as far as I know. Now that you're older, I suppose Alfred would nee to treat you the same, because you can stand up for yourself anymore. I'm glad to hear about you and Matthew. I hope you stay in good health. Remember that I'm always here for you. Dosvidannia, Ivan
